August 2, 2006 - AppliSonix Ltd., the developer of a hair removal device using ultrasound technology, has raised a US $4.5 million funding round. Infinity Venture Capital led the funding round. Other participants in the funding include Maayan Ventures, Magari Limited, Cyventure Capital and Athena Cyprus.

AppliSonix plans to use the funding for product development and to initiate clinical trials.

AppliSonix's hair removal system aims to prevent hair growth by using high-intensity focused ultrasound to target the hair's regenerative zones. VentureWire reported in January that AppliSonix was looking to raise a US $4 million second funding round after Maayan committed to providing $1 million to that round. At the time, company executives put the company's value at $6.5 million.

Incorporated in 2003, Applisonix previously raised $500,000 in 2004 from Israeli private individuals.
