TEL AVIV (Reuters) - March 2, 2005 - French communications equipment maker Alcatel has agreed to buy Native Networks for $55 million in cash, a shareholder in the Israeli company said on Wednesday.
Native Networks provides telecommunication service providers with the ability to offer metro ethernet services such as virtual private networks and triple play services - video, voice and data - over existing infrastructure.
Native Networks already had a manufacturing agreement with Alcatel.
Native shareholder Tamir Fishman Ventures, an Israeli venture capital fund, co-led a $15.6 million investment in Native Networks in October 2003. Tamir Fishman invested $3.3 million in Native and is its second-largest shareholder with an 11.7 percent interest.
Tamir Fishman Ventures, which is part of investment house Tamir Fishman & Co., said it expected to generate a return of $7.4 million to its investors from the sale.
